Hi everyone, and welcome to week 5 of EDC2020, where we continue our theme of ‘community cultures’.
This is just a very brief weekly introduction from me, as I’m assuming from the Moodle discussion forum, and the emails I’ve had over the past few days, that everyone is underway with the finding a suitable MOOC for your micro-ethnography task. If you are in any way unsure of any aspect of the ‘community cultures block’, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
By now, you should have chosen, or be close to choosing, your MOOC. You’ll need to give yourself some time to experience your chosen ‘community’, so I’d recommend finalising your choice, if you haven’t done so already, as soon as you can this week. Our list of suggested platforms (see here) is not exhaustive, so do please dig further into other kinds of MOOCs and open courses out there on the web, in order to find that illusive ‘community’ – if you are unsure about a particular course, let me know.
One of the key issues to consider as you start to work out how you are going to develop your micro-ethnography, will likely be ethics – read the guidelines here carefully, and get in touch if you have any questions. The ethical territory here is likely to depend on exactly how you are going to put your work together.
That’s all from me. Enjoy week 5 everyone!
